Sony has announced a Bloodborne movie during its CinemaCon presentation. Sony Pictures revealed that it is developing an R-rated animated adaptation of FromSoftware’s 2015 action RPG, with Seán McLoughlin, better known as Jacksepticeye, attached as a producer.
The production lineup consists of PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation as co-producers on the film, while Lyrical Media, the parent company of Lyrical Animation, is also involved in the funding.
Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch said the film will stay close to Bloodborne’s violent tone, which is why the project is being made as an R-rated movie from the start.
Jacksepticeye has also publicly confirmed that he is producing the project in a Reddit post on r/bloodborne.
Hey guys, I’m Jacksepticeye and as just announced at Cinemacon, Sony Pictures is officially making an animated Bloodborne feature film. I am producing this project and you have no idea how incredibly excited I am to finally be able to talk about it!! I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible. Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it.
I can’t share much about the project right now but man does it feel good to let you all know it’s happening!
Bloodborne remains one of PlayStation’s most prominent PS4-era exclusives, with no ports to any other platforms, not even a 60-fps patch for PS5. The game launched in March 2015 for PS4, developed by FromSoftware with SCE Japan Studio. Tight, fast, and unsurprisingly unforgiving combat, coupled with Lovecraftian Gothic horror with cosmic horror elements, elevate it to legendary status.
Bloodborne isn’t the only FromSoftware property that has an adaptation in the works, as a live-action Elden Ring movie was officially announced in May 2025 through a collaboration between Bandai Namco and A24, with Alex Garland attached to write and direct. Additionally, Crunchyroll announced in August 2025 that an anime adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was in development for 2026, and later confirmed that Sekiro: No Defeat is still on track to premiere this year.
