A mum who travelled to Spain on holiday has revealed she was left with painful bites after flies got into her suitcase.
Denise Kelly travelled to Benidorm to celebrate her friend's hen, and suspects the insects came back in her luggage. The blood-sucking Spanish black flies can leave painful bites from gnawing on skin that can blister and last up to a month.
The 42-year-old mum says she drove to the nearest hospital in Newcastle after she fell ill on the plane home. The nightmare continued when she arrived home in Glasgow to find flies in her suitcase as she unpacked.
