The sight of strike centre Kotoni Staggs engaging in defensive drills at training after recovering from shoulder surgery has given the Brisbane Broncos a pre-Christmas boost ahead of a crucial NRL season for the club.

The NSW Blues representative had his left shoulder heavily strapped on Tuesday but got through the contact session with ease after spending most of the pre-season in rehab away from the main group.
