State of Decay 3 is the next entry in the survival zombie series from Undead Labs.
First revealed six years ago, the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 event in June confirmed the new game is slated to arrive in 2027. News then surfaced some weeks later of a significant restructure at Microsoft, with a post on Xbox Wire revealing that the State of Decay studio has "entered terms to join new ownership". While we've yet to learn the owner Undead Labs is moving to, the team released a statement on Reddit and Discord reaffirming that as the studio transitions out of Xbox, "State of Decay 3 is still coming", adding that "the team is working hard and our commitment to this community has never been stronger".
