March NY world sugar #11 (SBH27) closed up +0.99 (+5.23%) on Friday, and December London ICE white sugar #5 (SWZ26) closed up +24.20 (+4.77%).

Sugar prices soared on Friday, with NY sugar posting a 1.5-year nearest-futures high and London sugar posting a 2.5-week high. Weather risks prompted fund buying of sugar futures on Friday. Rain forecast for Brazil’s Center-South sugar-growing region over the next week could disrupt cane crushing at Brazil’s sugar mills, curbing supplies.
