Prime Minister Rishi Sunak used incorrect figures when comparing the current asylum backlog to when Labour was in power, the statistics watchdog has said.
Sir Robert Chote, chairman of the UK Statistics Authority, has written to the government pointing out that figures used by ministers, including Mr Sunak, “do not reflect” official statistics.
