Superman was a masterclass in how to launch a franchise: it used a likable star to establish a new origin story for the Man of Steel and flesh out a new, intriguing world. David Corenswet’s Kal-El ushered in a new era, but in the final moments, his cousin Kara (Milly Alcock) appeared as a preview of what the future could be: fun, irreverent, and a little dark.
Now, we have our first full look at her upcoming movie, Supergirl. And while there are plenty of surprises, like the multiple appearances of Jason Momoa as Lobo, the biggest reveal is a predictable one: a shocking attack ripped from Supergirl’s source material, the comic book run Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
