Prosecutors stated that English was influenced by Luigi Mangione, who gained notoriety for the alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
English, who claimed to have a terminal illness, expressed a desire to carry out violent acts before his impending death. In a custodial interview, English mentioned feeling compelled to act due to a sense of fate or destiny, citing Mangione's actions as an influence.
