Faster Growth Ahead
Highlighting the company’s growth trajectory, Chandrasekaran noted that while the first 10 lakh vehicles took 34 years to manufacture, the next 10 lakh are expected to be produced within just five years.
He credited this accelerated growth outlook to Uttar Pradesh’s improving investment climate, strong infrastructure, and proactive governance.
“India is poised to become one of the fastest-growing economies globally, and Uttar Pradesh will play a key role in this journey,” he stated.
Hydrogen Mobility on the Horizon
Looking ahead, Tata Motors is planning to expand its portfolio beyond diesel, CNG, and electric vehicles to include hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles.
Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors, revealed that the company aims to roll out its first hydrogen-powered bus from the Lucknow plant within the next 30 months.
This move reflects Tata Motors’ broader commitment to sustainable mobility and clean energy solutions.
Expanding Presence in Uttar Pradesh
Chandrasekaran also highlighted the group’s growing footprint across multiple sectors in the state.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) currently employs around 20,000 professionals across Lucknow, Noida, and Varanasi, with plans to double this number to 40,000 over the next five years.
In addition to automotive and IT, the Tata Group is expanding in sectors such as power, defence, retail, and hospitality, contributing to job creation and economic development in the region.
Focus on Social Impact and Innovation
Beyond industrial growth, the Tata Group is also investing in social and technological initiatives. These include water conservation projects in Mathura and the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence in Gorakhpur.
Such initiatives underline the group’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation-driven growth.
Strong Market Position
Wagh further noted that Uttar Pradesh is currently the second-largest market for Tata Motors in terms of sales, reinforcing the strategic importance of the state in the company’s future plans.
Overall, the milestone at the Lucknow plant not only marks a significant achievement for Tata Motors but also signals a strong push toward cleaner mobility, rapid industrial growth, and deeper regional engagement in the years ahead.
