The UK has experienced its coldest night of the year so far, with temperatures in Scotland dipping below minus 15C. Braemar in Aberdeenshire recorded minus 15.7C overnight, the Met Office said.
Stansted Airport had to delay all flights while Heathrow and gatwicvk also delayed a number of arrivals and departures. There has been disruption across the road and rail network with hundreds of schools also closing.
Newspaper distribution, including of The Times and The Sun, has experienced significant disruption overnight which may flow on into delivery delays “in many parts of the country”.
