New regulations due to be introduced in October by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) are set to cost Kellogg's millions. The major cereal manufacturer, which brought legal action against the government, has now lost its High Court challenge over the new food regulations.
Part of the regulations will restrict where certain types of food are permitted to be displayed within supermarkets or on their websites, while another part coming into force next year will ban multi-buy promotions of foods deemed high in fat, sugar or salt (HFSS).
The move is estimated to cost the household name manufacturer millions of pounds in lost sales, reported Liverpool Echo. When implemented, in-store promotion of HFSS foods will be limited, meaning they will not be allowed to be featured in high-profile locations such as aisle ends, checkouts and shop entrances.
