Let’s face it: Pennies are an annoyance to many Americans. Their main value as a currency is to help provide exact change, but most wind up in a drawer or jar and quickly forgotten.
However, President Trump announced in February that he ordered the Treasury to halt penny production, thus ending a 232-year tradition dating back to 1793. Today, the last penny ever will be minted at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia according to CNN, so those annoying pennies could eventually be worth something a little extra.
