New signing Edouard Michut is still coming to terms with the intensity of training in England - but could be in contention to join Sunderland's Championship campaign after the international break. The French midfielder joined the Black Cats from Paris St Germain last month, initially on a loan deal but with the option to buy.
Sunderland head coach Tony Mowbray said last week that Michut had picked up a minor injury in training which had set him back, but he has resumed training again although is not yet completing every session. Sunderland have back-to-back away games this week at Reading tomorrow and then at Watford on Saturday and Michut will travel with the squad, who are due to stay and train in the South between those fixtures.
After that there is a fortnight-long international break before Sunderland's season resumes with a home game against Preston North End on October 1, and Mowbray is hoping that Michut could be available by then. "I don't think he's too far away," he said of Michut.
