Canterbury veteran Kurt Mann has warned against the proposed addition of a third-place playoff in NRL grand final week, adamant the risk of injury would be far too high.

The prospect of a clash between the losers of the two preliminary finals was raised at a meeting of NRL club bosses last week, and has head office support.
