May arabica coffee (KCK25) Wednesday closed down -1.20 (-0.35%), and May ICE robusta coffee (RMK25) closed up +51 (+1.06%).
Coffee prices on Wednesday settled mixed, with arabica coffee falling to a 2-3/4 month low. Global trade war fears undercut most commodity prices, including coffee, after China retaliated against US tariffs on Wednesday by imposing 84% tariffs on US goods, and Europe retaliated with 25% tariffs on 21 billion euros worth of US goods. Also, there is concern that coffee demand will suffer as tariffs increase coffee prices for US consumers.
