TRANSPORT MINISTER JO HAYLEN'S JOURNEY TO RESIGNATION

* NSW Transport Minister Jo Haylen has quit cabinet after repeatedly using taxpayer-funded, chauffeur-driven cars for private trips

* Ms Haylen used her ministerial driver to take her to a private lunch at a winery, drop her children off at a sporting event, along with other trips to the Hunter Valley and the Blue Mountains

* "I've made some mistakes. I did not break the rules, but I acknowledge that that's not the only test here. I've let the public down and I'm very sorry for that," Ms Haylen said

* Premier Chris Minns has tightened the rules, banning the use of taxpayer-funded cars for trips that are exclusively for private purposes

* Ms Haylen was previously in the headlines for hiring a former Labor staffer to head her department, despite an appointment panel labelling them a "significant risk"

* She also stared down resignation calls after she gave an apolitical role to a Labor-aligned type. Her chief of staff was forced to quit over the incident

* Ms Haylen has been at loggerheads with the rail unions over pay demands, with the long-running dispute causing major disruption to commuters
