KANPUR: Every do has a day, goes the adage. In Hamirpur’s Saunkhar village, in fact, two dogs had their day on Sunday when over 500 people attended their rather lavish wedding performed as per Hindu rituals. There was no protest as well since the dogs belonged to two local priests.
The ‘groom’ Kallu belonged to Swami Dwarika Das Maharaj of Saunkhar village, while the ‘bride’ Bhuri is the pet of Mahant Arjun Das of Parchach village in Maudaha. The wedding was fixed for June 5 in accordance with auspicious planetary positions.
