Viola Davis has declared she will only film love scenes if her on-screen partner has a “big gut”, believing it would lead to more plot-driven scenarios.
The actor expressed her general distaste for filming and watching sex scenes during an appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast.
She recounted a “nightmare” experience filming a sex scene for How to Get Away with Murder, where the focus was on her co-star's physique rather than organic interaction.
Davis suggested that a partner with a “gut” would encourage writers to focus on emotional connection and natural moments, rather than just physical display.
She previously imposed rules for sex scenes during How to Get Away with Murder including avoiding being thrown against walls due to injury and preferring static positions on a bed.
