Approximately 400 Warriors employees lined up to show their support and appreciation for Thompson, donning 'Captain Klay' hats in honor of his 13-year tenure with the franchise. During his time with the Warriors, Thompson played a pivotal role in securing four championships before injuries sidelined him for over two years.
Thompson, now 34, signed a three-year, $50 million contract with the Dallas team in July after a lengthy recovery period from surgeries on his left knee and right Achilles tendon. His comeback in January 2022 marked a significant milestone in his career, and the Warriors organization wanted to commemorate his contributions with a special 'Salute Captain Klay' ceremony before the game.
