Jonathan Smith opened his tenure as the head coach of Michigan State football with a 16-10 win over Florida Atlantic on Friday night. The win, the first in the Smith era, was underwhelming but a big win for the program nonetheless.

In the locker room after the game, MSU athletic director Alan Haller presented the game ball to Smith:
