FORGOTTEN HISTORY: What was the explosion heard across glasgow and beyond - The Untold Story

HUNDREDS of Glasgow residents have taken to social media to report a loud explosion.

People have said the concerning noise was heard across the city and as far away as Clydebank.

Pictures on social media show a large plummet of smoke rising over an industrial area near the River Clyde with residents speculating where it took place.

One person said: "My building shook and I heard the bang from towards Govan!"

What was the explosion?

The Peel Ports site at the King George V Docks in Govan has confirmed that it stemmed from "a minor equipment fire related to a third-party contractor at the site".

The fire has now been put out.
