Seldom has Britain witnessed a marketing phenomenon as wildly successful as that of Sunny Delight in the late 1990s.
Seemingly appearing from out of nowhere, the sickly sweet juice drink was soon coining in £160 million a year as it became the mum-approved drink of choice for kids.
Manufacturers, the American multinational Proctor & Gamble, were quite literally throwing money at it, with a £10 million promotional campaign ensuring that Sunny Delight rose to be the third best-selling soft drink in the UK behind Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
