BIZARRE: I draw to make teaching more interesting - What They Never Told You
I’m an elementary school teacher and there is nothing in the world I’d rather be. I love every minute of it, and truly, every kid I teach. I also love art, and drawing is one of my favorite hobbies. So, to incorporate my hobby into my teaching, I add drawings and sketches to my daily lessons and notes on the whiteboard. Sometimes, I sketch a little picture with a speech bubble on the kids’ worksheets or homework. It is fun for me, and it makes the information and notes more interesting and attractive for the kids.

Another ‘think about’ drawing
When I taught 1st grade, the kids would walk to sketches on the board on Mondays.
One time I had to call in sick…so I texted my partner teacher this, to show the kids.
Many of my drawings are sketches of what I look like that day, or my partner teacher.

I always draw myself and my partner teacher, Ms. Aceves, for the first day of school year.

Thank you so much for being a wonderful teacher and good example for the kids to model themselves after. Some of them might need that.

I wish I had you as my teacher! If I had, I would have been rushing to school every day ! I was unfortunate enough to have nuns, who were always rapping our knuckles with a ruler. This still affects me as an adult.

Thank you so much! I'm sorry about your school experience... I do work for a small parochial school, and we do still have one nun that teaches there...but she is so cool! So cool she walked into my room the other day, saw my Jack Sparrow doll on my desk and told me she was a huge fan of his...So I gave her the doll. She was SO happy! :) The kids, staff, and parents love her!
