    I have found it's the opposite, I have limited what notifications come through to my watch and no longer feel the need to always have my phone with me in case of an emergency or somethingimportant, so now I check it/use it less.

    Depends. If one party (usually the male) thinks that paying the bill obligates the other party in some way then 50/50 is the way to go. On the other hand, if I were to invite somebody for dinner I wouldn't then ask them to split the bill because that would just be rude.
