Firefighters were called to a fire at a derelict building in Oldham this morning (November 13). Around 6.15am six fire engines and 'a number of' specialist appliances were called to the building on Ruth Street.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) say the fire involved the roof of the building. The fire has been extinguished from above, they say, but they remain in attendance to tackle any hot spots and to make sure it is fully extinguished.
People were asked to stay away from the area while firefighters tackled the blaze. Local residents were also asked to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke.
