Eleven Labour councillors have been suspended from the party as part of its investigation into a WhatsApp group containing offensive messages which saw a former minister sacked and a second MP lose the whip.

A Labour Party spokesperson said on Tuesday evening: “As part of our WhatsApp group investigation, a group of councillors have been administratively suspended from the Labour Party.
