Labrinth’s music won’t feature in series three of Euphoria after the singer-songwriter’s public fallout with the show’s creator.
The “Beneath Your Beautiful” singer served as the primary composer on the first two seasons of Sam Levinson’s HBO hit and had been due to collaborate with Hollywood heavyweight Hans Zimmer for the long-awaited third series.
But in a post on Instagram in March, the 37-year-old wrote: “I’m done with this industry. F*** Columbia. Double f*** Euphoria. I’m out. Thank you and goodnight.”
Asked what happened, Levinson has now told Rolling Stone: “I don’t know. He’s an incredible collaborator and someone who really built the foundation of the sound of Euphoria.”
The publication said it has confirmed that Zimmer has the sole music credit on the new series. The Independent has contacted Labrinth’s representative for comment.
The British star won huge praise for his work on Euphoria, winning an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for “All Of Us” in 2020 after a reworked version of the track with vocals from Zendaya featured in Euphoria series one.
He went on to receive a Grammy nomination in 2024 for a new version of the soundtrack’s “I Never Felt So Alone”, which he wrote and performed with Billie Eilish.
When Labrinth’s series three collaboration with Zimmer was announced, the latter said: “It’s an honour to join this incredible team of storytellers led by the visionary Sam Levinson. Together, they have crafted such a bold and moving series that has meant so much to audiences.
“Labrinth’s music has shaped the show’s identity and I’m looking forward to contributing to the ongoing story and helping shape this new season through music.”

Labrinth added separately: “Another chapter in the Euphoria universe! So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season. Love x.”
After a four-year wait, Euphoria’s third season will premiere on HBO Max this Sunday (12 April) and feature a five-year time jump, picking up with the students of East Highland as they are now into adulthood.
Most of the show’s biggest names - who have become huge Hollywood stars since the show’s first season in 2019 - will return, with Zendaya reprising her role as the troubled Rue Bennett while Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi are back as the now-engaged Cassie Howard and Nate Jacobs.
One major change will be the absence of Fezco following actor Angus Cloud’s death in July 2023, while Barbie Ferreira announced her decision to step away from playing Kat Hernandez in 2022.
